New Jersey Sunshine Senator is
Memorialized into a LifeGem®

Senator Byron Baer diamond for his wife Judge Linda Baer. Byron Baer
died on June 24, 2007 after a long illness. Prior to his death, he and
his wife decided to make a LifeGem Diamond using the carbon extracted
from his cremated remains. |
“Byron authored the
open public meetings act, called The Sunshine Law and earned the
nickname, The Sunshine Senator,” said wife Linda Baer. “It only seems
fitting that he became a Sunshine Diamond.”
Linda and her husband
decided on cremation long before his illness. In 2002, she read about
LifeGem and approached her husband about turning his remains into a
diamond. Byron thought the idea of being remembered every time his wife
looked at a sparkling precious gem couldn’t be more perfect.
Senator Byron Baer
was a freedom rider in 1961 having spent 45 days in jail fighting for
equal rights of others in the Deep South. Serving more than 33 years,
Senator Baer was one of the longest serving state legislative leaders in
New Jersey history. He always felt an obligation to give back to the
people.
