Our History...

LifeGem was formed in 2001 after completing over three years of intense research to create the most unique memorial product ever invented, the LifeGem. The patent pending LifeGem is a certified, high-quality diamond created from the carbon of a loved one as a memorial to their unique life.  With the LifeGem, we seek to fulfill the growing need in the today’s funeral services industry of providing families with a more individualized and personal approach to memorializing their loved ones.

LifeGem directly affects the funeral services industry.  Although steadily growing, this virtually unchanging industry is in need of a better way to provide for families’ distinct and individual needs.  More families believe the deceased should be honored and remembered but feel that the survivors' experience is equally important.

We are providing a positive resolution to two major factors currently influencing this industry:  the exchange of traditional burial and memorial customs for unique and highly personalized approaches, and the quickly rising nationwide and worldwide cremation rates.  As noted by the Cremation Association of North America, the U.S. cremation rate is on the rise from its current position of 26% to a forecasted rate of 36% by the year 2010.

Circumstances have resulted in which families are unsatisfied with standard and ordinary memorials for their loved ones.  Their loved ones have led unique, brilliant, and wonderful lives and should receive nothing less in passing.  These families find it difficult to pay an appropriate level of respect to their loved ones with inferior memorial products and desire a better solution.  We have that solution, the LifeGem.

Our overall mission is to provide comfort for grieving family members and encourage positive reflections of those who have passed on by offering a memorial product of ultimate individuality and beauty.  By providing this new level of respect to the deceased, we intend to transform the funeral services industry.

Currently, a LifeGem can be created between .25 carats and 1.3 carats and possess the same quality as diamonds found at high-end jewelers. LifeGem created diamonds, just like natural diamonds, are authenticated, certified, and identified by our knowledgeable team of gemologists trained by the industry leading Gemological Institute of America.  The LifeGem diamonds are produced in only the most rare diamond colors found in nature.  A LifeGem is not only valuable because of its quality and color, but also because it is unique and individual to the people they memorialize.  Because it is a diamond, the LifeGem is durable, mobile, and a cherished family heirloom.

We have discovered how to capture the carbon that was always present, and until now, lost during cremation.  Once captured, this carbon is placed in one of our unique diamond presses replicating the awesome forces of nature – heat and pressure.  A diamond that takes millions of years to occur naturally can now be created from the carbon of your loved one in a matter of months.  Beginning with an enhanced cremation process, our patent pending process creates a certified, high-quality LifeGem diamond as the most beautiful and personalized memorial product ever.
